Chapter 245

Serena's POV

I strolled around the slave market, 'casually' browsing through the pamphlet.

Each person was placed inside a large cage and situated within a spacious open tent.

Impressive...

However, I find this slave market's organization quite commendable and conscientious.

The layout of the tents and the detailed descriptions of the types of slaves being sold were all carefully written.

I did take a peek at the specialty shop for high-class slaves... Well, as expected, it was filled with elves and dark elves. Occasionally, there were some refined-looking young girls, but none matched my preferences.

Then, I went to the area where they handle ordinary slaves, but all I saw were commoners and young beastkin.

I guess I have to go further into this area to find what I'm looking for...

...

...

After a while, I arrived at the farthest corner, away from the center.

This place is where they gather the so-called "defective" slaves, who are deemed less valuable.

Unlike before, there's no extravagant atmosphere here; the tents are simple.

Nevertheless, unlike the slave traders, they seem to maintain a minimum level of hygiene. It doesn't smell bad.

Most of the slaves are inside their tents, and when I peeked in, it was obvious that there were mostly men, with very few girls.

Sigh... Why aren't there any girls who fit my preferences here?

When they're not around at all, it somehow feels like my preferences are being denied, and it makes me sad...

Well, there are still plenty of tents to explore, so I'll take my time.

Besides, there's also an auction...

As I continued observing, I noticed a small tent a little further away.

'Exhibition: Monstrous Girl'

What's this?

Once I looked beyond the tent... Huh? Isn't she mamaFrey?

No, on closer inspection, it's someone else, but the girl resembled mamaFrey.

Upon closer inspection, her hair was red, but her eyes were golden... and she was incredibly tall.

"Ugh... Hiccup... What's with you, kid? Why are you staring at me?"

Wow, she smells strongly of alcohol... but she's incredibly beautiful.

"Um, when I opened the tent, you were there... That's the feeling."

"What is it? What do you mean? Oh, I see. They're using me as an exhibit again, right? Well, go ahead and look. It's nothing special."

"Is there someone other than you?"

"There's no one here besides me."

I don't understand why this person is being displayed. Why is that?

"Um, it's a bit difficult to say, but you don't really look like a monster. Why is that?"

"Well, you know, I might not look like a monster at first glance... But this is what I am."

As she said that, the lady in front of me twisted a sword made of steel.

Yeah, she's definitely strong.

But... I still don't understand why she's considered a "monstrous exhibit."

"Well, that's just being strong, right?"

"I can't control my strength... It's what they call 'Hero Syndrome'."

"Hero Syndrome?"

Is it related to Zect-oniichan...?

Why does she have such a sad expression?

"What? You don't know about Hero Syndrome? Well, it's not something you come across often... It refers to people like me, who are considered monsters... Aren't you scared?"

I couldn't understand why she thought I would be scared.
